DTN COMMENTS: The country is slow to start this morning following moderate
trade in parts of the North yesterday with dressed business ranging from
173.00-174.00, mostly 174.00, fully steady with last week's weighted average
basis Nebraska. Live deals ranged from 108.00-111.00, mostly 110.00-111.00,
steady/weak with last week's trade. The South remained very quiet yesterday.
Asking prices today are around 113.00-114.00 in the South, and 176.00 plus
in the North. We expect packer inquiry will improve as the day progresses.
Beef cutouts are expected to be lower with light to moderate box movement.
